I’m trying to come up with creative solutions to use CE to monitor my smart TV. My current solution is we have Little Elf cameras (used for baby monitors, light home security, etc), pointed at the TV, it detects motion but is all self enclosed in the mobile app and can’t be viewed on a computer. My idea is to either turn an old iPhone into a camera and live stream it into a window on spare computer running CE, or my other idea is to somehow (if it exists) an hdmi plug in of some kind that can “see” the TV output and have that run in a window on a computer. Has anyone tried something similar? The latter would be my preferred solution so I don’t have a livestream running 24/7

Thanks for your question. There isn't a way to have Covenant Eyes monitor your Smart TV. That being said, I did want to share some potential solutions as well as some general information about Covenant Eyes and Smart TVs. I hope this helps.

Smart TVs

People often ask about Covenant Eyes for Smart TVs and streaming devices. We appreciate the interest and applaud anyone who is trying to manage their digital content! Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, Covenant Eyes does not work on those devices.

However, we can recommend the following:

1. Address the issue at the router level by using OpenDNS4 or CleanBrowsing5. This decreases the amount of inappropriate content on your WiFi signal. But, be aware that other devices which are using Covenant Eyes Filtering may run into conflicts with the filter on the router.
2. Use the built-in controls. Not all manufacturers provide such tools, but down below we’ll provide links to some that do.
3. Consider getting rid of the device. It may sound crazy, but we talk with people every week who take this step. They do this in order to save a relationship or preserve their own well-being.

While we can’t provide a technical solution for every situation, we stand with you in the fight against pornography.

• LG – Safety Settings2 provide some control, including a PIN, but may not be available in every country.
• Samsung – Parental Controls5 use a PIN to limit access to apps, channels, and content.
• Sony – Parental lock controls2 are available on some models.
• TCL (non-Roku) – Parental Controls3 on recent models use V-Chip technology, front panel lock, and/or channel block.
• TCL (with Roku) – start by pressing the home button, and then follow the same steps as the Roku streaming device.3
• Vizio – Parental Control2s allow you to block certain programs.
