Hello,

Thank you to the Covenant Eyes team.
The service is great.

I have youtube.com blocked.

But there is one problem.

When I go to a third party website like superherohype.com or ign.com, there are sometimes youtube videos imbedded in the site. When I click on the imbedded videos,I can open up the entire youtube.com website.

So this is a sneaky way for youtube to get through.

The problem is that when a youtube video is imbedded in a webpage,
there is a link on it that allows you to open youtube.com.

Then, anything can be searched for--including adult content.

It's such a shame because youtube is a great site for clean entertainment.
But it's filled with sexual and immoral videos.

Is there a way to prevent imbedded youtube videos from appearing on a third party webpage?

Or is there a way to prevent an imbedded youtube video from being able to open youtube.com??

This problem needs to be fixed.
Thank you

Hello Neil,

I apologize for your frustrations, I know I would be frustrated too if I were in your place. There is good news though, your issue can be resolved, but let me give you a bit of background information on why the filter is behaving inconsistently.

With websites like Youtube it has two 'sides'. There is an unsecure side, HTTP, and a secure side, HTTPS. The 'S' in HTTPS standing for secure. HTTPS is great at protecting any of your secure information: credit card numbers, usernames and passwords, your emails etc. However, the HTTPS is what causes filters to either behave inconsistently or not all. In HTTPS there is an encryption that is used to ensure the security of your information. Filters have difficulty seeing past that encryption. Our software can see you are going to that website, but the filter cannot reach through that encryption to put up our block.

We realize that this is a big issue and we are looking at ways to resolve this problem. This is why the accountability reports are so important because our accountability service will still report every website that is visited, HTTPS or not.

If you are interested in blocking Youtube outright (which it sounds like you are) we do have a solution for you. If you could give our Customer Service a call at your earliest convenience we would be more than happy to assist you. Our number is 877.479.1119

Best regards,
Annelise
