my husband finally gave open disclosure to me today about his 23 year pornography use. I was in the dark the whole time we have dated and been married. I followed most of the disclosure. Several years ago he went from watching "Cinemax" type movies to watching "hard core Porn videos" which he purchased on "pay per view" on our home TV, or purchased on the Internet. My question is, what is the difference in hard core porn and movie channel
Porn? The hard core porn videos seem to be an escalation of behaviors. ..he said the Cinemax wasn't doing it for him anymore. I don't want to traumatized myself with too many details, but I do need more information...so, what is hard-core porn?

Hi Momdoc,

The best I can say without going into too much detail here is that 'hard core' means that everything is shown. Unlike movie channels where they leave a little to the imagination, the other leaves nothing. It shows everything that occurs in all acts of contact. While movie channels like Cinemax do not show X rated movies (they are usually NC17 or Unrated), HC porn is XXX. It is as base as a movie of that kind can get.

I hope that answers your questions. Also, I think it's great that your husband took the first step toward recovery by disclosing this to you. Communication is key to any addiction. I hope the two of you can work through this. If you are not currently a member of ours, I encourage you to call us and let one of our Customer Service reps explain to you what we do, and show you how to access our free resources which may benefit you both in understanding the dangers of Internet porn on the brain, and the marriage.

Best of luck,

Heather

Hi momdoc,

I would also recommend two free educational resources from Covenant Eyes; "The Porn Circuit," which describes how porn becomes a compulsive or even an addictive habit, and "Porn and Your Husband," which will answer many questions you might have. You can find both of these free e-books at http://www.covenanteyes.com/e-books/
