VPN on IPhone

I saw a post from 6 months ago that users were getting reports that their IPhone VPN was turning off. The report also shows no activity for the week.

The post indicated several reasons for this, connection to WIFi, phone turned off, dead battery, ......

Further in the post it was indicated that the report was going to be modified to not show that the VPN was being 'turned off' because of the possible undue concern that it was generating.

I have some questions.

If that notification was deprecated why are we still receiving it.

While I want to give my son the benefit of a doubt, is there a way on the IPhone to disable the ability for a person to TURN OFF the VPN connection manually, via a password protection mechanism.  At least if that is possible then we can disregard messages generated when it switches to wifi, or generates other triggers that trigger the message.

Thanks for posting.

To answer the first question (why are we still receiving it?), first, make sure that your son has the newest version of the Covenant Eyes® app. As of today, (June 26, 2018) that is version 4.1.6.

Secondly, there are still cases of that notification showing up. As part of addressing the issue, our developers are collecting diagnostic logs. If you are inclined to help, please open up the CE app on your son's phone and type 'sendlogs://' in the address bar. Then an email will open up, with the diagnostic log attached. You can add some comments, if you like, and send that email to the developers.
In answer to your second question (is there a way?). 1) That's a great idea, but 2) at this time, Apple does not provide a way, naturally in iOS or via an app, to lock down the VPN setting. That's why we are continuing to look at the notification angle.

Thanks again for reaching out, and for being a pro-active parent.
