VPN Causing Issues With Other Apps

So I have been having problems with my iPhone 8 plus. I have the latest firmware in CE and IOS. It will act like I do not have internet connection when I am away from WiFi with multiple apps including apple apps like notes, numbers pages etc. It won't let me share with people on the apple apps and says no connectivity. However when I disable the VPN it works. I remind you this is only when off WiFi and using data. Another thing I've noticed is it won't sync my iPhone with my iMac anymore. Copy and past won't work between the computer and the phone. Not sure if this is related. However the no internet connection is annoying because with work I share things with numbers, notes and pages all the time and has a big part to my workflow. Anyways any help would be awesome. I feel like it wasn't always like this with the VPN and maybe it something that just started in December or November last year.

trogers612,

Sorry to hear about the connection issue. I can understand why that would be annoying.

We have seen some of those, but they are generally on both data and wifi. This one seems isolated to the data connection. Due to the unique nature of the issue, I would encourage you to call Customer Support at 877-479-1119. A representative will be able to do thorough troubleshooting with you, and it'll be faster than working through this forum.

If you haven't already tried a simple uninstall/reinstall, let me encourage you to do so. As simple as it is, it can resolve things. While I suspect there's another factor at work here, it doesn't hurt to start with the easy stuff.

We look forward to helping out,

Robert

trogers612,

I learned that our developers have seen an issue with IPv6 on some mobile devices, primarily Android. What you've described sounds like it could be that issue.

IPv6 is essentially a system of addresses; it is replacing IPv4 and becoming more commonly used in the tech world. Our developers are working right now on some background improvements that should totally resolve connection issues that arise when IPv6 is being used. When I have an update on that particular development, I'll post something here.

I noticed that you did the uninstall/reinstall and didn't see an improvement. I suspect you're encountering this IPv6 issue, but, of course, I could be wrong. Please call our Customer Service team for full troubleshooting assistance. If they can't resolve it for you, they will probably collect diagnostic logs from the device. You can reach them at 877-479-1119 or via chat (when you log into your account on the Covenant Eyes® website).
