Vipre Antivirus compatibility

Hello everyone,

I am having CE installation problems on a Windows 10 computer using Vipre Antivirus. I disabled my antivirus program, but CE installation failed and asked that I uninstall. I uninstalled my antivirus program (and turned off the default Windows Defender antivirus and firewall), but my CE install still thinks I have Vipre Antivirus installed and will not complete installation.

This is extremely aggravating, because I really need to both have an additional layer of internet accountability and have the also-expensive network security I've already paid for functioning as well.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards,

Sam

Hello Madcap_Magician,

Thank you for your post and I apologize you're experiencing issues installing the Covenant Eyes software. Vipre is one of the few anti viruses that we have incompatibility issues with. We have been trying to work with Vipre to make the two compatible, but we do not have a resolution yet. It is possible that CE is still detecting pieces of Vipre in the registry or app data. I would suggest running C Cleaner by Piriform to remove any leftover Vipre files. C Cleaner is great for removing unused/broken files and registry keys from your computer.

After running C Cleaner you should be able to install Covenant Eyes with no issues. If you are continuing to have issues please feel free to contact our Customer Service at 877.479.1119.

Best regards,
Annelise

Hi there I just tried to install Covenant Eyes myself which I also have Vipre installed. Like the customer above its frustrating that I cannot install Covenant Eyes. This post is from 2 years ago, since then have you been able to find a solution to the incompatiblity issue?

Samuel,

Some progress has been made. As long as  Covenant Eyes is installed first, before Vipre, they can co-exist. There is some additional configuring of Vipre that assures smooth sailing after that. But it starts with having CE installed first.

For additional assistance with configuring Vipre, you can contact our Customer Service team. Anyone on the team would be happy to talk you through the configuration process and/or take care of it for you by remoting into your computer.

If you'd rather work on it by yourself, then consult this article which broadly explains how to configure an antivirus program. https://www.covenanteyes.com/support-articles/does-covenant-eyes-conflict-with-other-programs/  The pictures below are not comprehensive, but do illustrate the process.
