v 5.7.16 LAN and WiFi show limited or no connectivity but internet works fine

This is more of an annoyance than anything, but I have v 5.7.16 and it is making my internet adapters do funny things.  My ethernet and wifi adapters both show no internet connection but the internet works anyway.  When I spoke with someone they told me to uninstall and download 5.2.106 from a specific website they gave me and that worked.  I then "checked for updates" and it updated the software to the latest (or maybe I just manually downloaded, don't remember) and it worked for a while, now it's doing it again.

Any ideas on how to fix?  I'm kind of OCD about being on the latest version of things, but if the only answer is to go back to the other version for now then I can.

Hi Jon,

I'm not sure how we'd make the connection look like it was working when it's not, or vice versa.

When you have 5716 installed, can you get online only when logged into CE, or does it still let you browse when CE appears to be signed out (grey box with small red x for 5716, or closed blue eye for 52106)?

When I sign out it disconnects the internet as normal.  I'm not sure how it's happening either, but I'm certain it is based on some sort of issue with CE 5.7.16 since when I uninstall it works fine and when I use 5.2.106 it works fine.

OK, so it is working as it should be with 5716, but it just appears that your Internet is down, though it's not?

That's correct, and now I'm realizing I'm having a little bit of a hard time with certain programs at work saying they can't connect to the internet for updates.

Hi Jon,
Although I have never seen it present in this way, I think what you are experiencing is actually fairly easy to fix.  It will require you to call into our customer service support line, but if you mention that you're having an issue with the internet that is present with 5.7.16 and not 5.2.106, they will be able to lead you through the process. Customer support is available from 8AM-midnight EST Monday through Friday and 10AM to 6PM on Saturdays at 877-479-1119.

Just as an FYI, I had to wipe my computer and this issue was still around with the 5.9 version I downloaded last week.  But I updated CE today for the version 6 update and it no longer appears to be a problem!

Thanks for all your help in the past!

Hi Jon!
I'm glad to know it's working with the newest version! That is consistent with what I thought the problem was, so I don't expect you'll be seeing the issue again.

Thanks for sticking with us through the issues!
