Uninstall without a code.

The uninstaller needs a way to uninstall without a code. The little episode from this morning creates a pretty untenable situation: at any given moment, my ability to get to the internet through a browser evaporates with zero recourse.

If I can add my 2 cents, I'm thinking CE should have an automated telephone service to get an uninstall code that's always available. I think that's a way to solve the problem of availability without getting rid of an essential component of Covenant Eyes.

They already have that, but the website and phone system went down simultaneously today.

Thanks for the input, guys!

We actually do have a uninstall code generation option on our phone system which should allow you to generate a code if you're able to do so through the website. If you're restricted from generating as uninstall code through the Member Center you would still be restricted through the phone system.

The phone system option is a good idea, unless you guys shut down the phone system like you did this morning.

There's got to be a failsafe of some kind.

While I was frustrated this morning too, allowing uninstalls without a code is a terrible idea.

I do like Chance's idea: something hosted offsite so that if something happens locally, we can still get a code while the folks onsite at their HQ get operations restored.

That's a great point about the hosting. I just came back to this thread because I realized that with our phones being knocked out along with the service outage this morning, I don't know that uninstalling via the automated portion of our phone system would be an option. I'll definitely see what I can find out though.

Ok, so obviously a simple uninstall without a code won't do, and isn't really what I had in mind anyway. What about a whitelist of sites that would be accessible without CE being logged in? You could make the whitelist visible to our partners.
