Thunderbird - issue with certifcates and google calendar

Hi
I have been having recurrent problems with Mozilla Thunderbird throwing up security exceptions when synchronising google calendars.

"Unknown Identity:
The certificate is not trusted because it hasn't been verified as issued by a trusted authority using a secure signature".

On inspection it seems that while the certificate is for "www.google.com", it has an issuer of "CovenantEyesProxy (46643)", which it then claims isn't a trusted certifying authority.

I add it as an exception, but similar certificates with different signatures keep creating the same trouble- many times each day.

Any suggestions?

Hello Michael,

I apologize for the difficulties you've been experiencing regarding Covenant Eyes and Thunderbird.

One suggestion I do have is perhaps uninstalling the current version of Covenant Eyes, running a malware cleaner (like ADW Cleaner or Malware Bytes) and then reinstalling the beta version of Covenant Eyes, 7.2.

Our beta version is currently available in the My Account section of our website. This will hopefully clear up the certificate issue you've been experiencing.

If you need any assistance or this solution does not fix the issue please contact our Customer Service 877.479.1119 and would be more than happy to help you!

Best regards,
Annelise

Hi,
Last week I received the big Windows 10 update. Since then I have the same problem with Thunderbird with some accounts. A window shows up 'Add security Exeption'
I need to click every time on the button Confirm security Exeption.
I use CE version 7.2.41
This has an issuer of "CovenantEyesProxy (69650)
I hope there is a solution to get rid of this

Thanks but the problem with uninstall CE is that I can't do this the following message shows up:
Kan het bestand C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{5AC5ED2E-2936-4b54-A429-703F9034938E}\setup.exe niet vinden.
Controleer of u de juiste naam hebt ingevoerd en probeer het daarna opnieuw.
In English: the file cannot be found.
I am sure that this also happened after the big Windows 10 update.
Hopefully you have a solution for this error.

Last week I have deleted CE using Ubuntu to start up my machine. I had made a image first. I found on internet how to change the register settings. After 'killing' everything from CE Thunderbird worked well. Then I installed CE again without problems. Also no problems anymore with Thunderbird. There is only still one little problem: if I want to uninstall CE in the normal way, I can't put in the code that is needed as the mentioned file (2 weeks ago) can not be found.
But infact this is no problem as long as it runs well and there is no need to uninstall CE.
All the best, Evert
