Question for PlayStation parental controls and single college students

Hi my name is Casey Albritton and I have been considering buying a PlayStation 4 because from what I could tell, the parental controls are much easier to use than the xbox one. But I am wary of buying a system that I might regret because I am unfamiliar with it. I am also a single college student and due to this, parental controls are difficult to use. I am considering collaborating with my CE guardian to set up parental controls. This did not work well with an xbox one and I have given up on that as they were difficult to handle and not designed well in my opinion. Is there a way to set up the parental controls that block the internet app on the PlayStation in way that is feasible for a single college student? Is there a way to restrict the system to just games no apps? Has someone done something like this? Most of the stuff on parental controls are directed toward families and do not break them down on how an adult accountability partner and an adult guardian can use them (if it is even feasible).

Hi Casey,
Thank you for posting on this forum! Having your Covenant Eyes Filter Guardian enable parental controls on your gaming devices is a great way to set some safe boundaries. Sony has a thorough support article that explains how they associate levels of "appropriateness" with ages; Sony has levels designed for users 3-18+. You also have the ability to restrict the downloading of apps, as well as lock the internet browser.

Here is the link to Sony's Parental Controls article for PlayStation 4:

I hope this helps!

Thanks. I really appreciate it. I have been out of video games for so long because they were an issue back then. The PS4 is so much easier and straight forward to use than the xbox one. It appears I am able to block everything that I had trouble with on the xbox one (apps/internet/etc).
