More discreet app icon

Any chance you can create an app icon that is a little more discreet? It's a little embarrassing to have to explain the situation every time someone borrows my phone to use the Internet. It's even more embarrassing when they put two and two together and realize I have an issue with pornography.

Are you talking about the iPhone app? Or Android?

I would like to bring this to the forefront again. Even in the latest update (today) this is an issue...  I see this as super important because i do a lot of screen sharing with clients.

On another note, I work with clients in foreign countries and the "all seeing eye" thing is kind of a big deal in certain places! Do a quick google search for "All seeing eye" and you'll see. Superstition runs deep in certain cultures. My company just realized this and we are dealing with some interesting iconography issues. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Hey Guys,

I hear where this is coming from, and I can see the merit in it. Changes to the icon have a lot of implications, (brand recognition, standards, marketability, etc) so I suspect any changes to the icon are not going to be quick.

More importantly long term we are looking to move away from being a browser in the first place, with our goal being to let anyone use whatever browser/apps that they want. A side benefit of this would be that our application would become background and much less likely be seen in any screen cast.

Hey John,
Are the iOS changes tied in at all to the coming of iOS 8?  If you can't say one way or the other, I completely understand.

Hey Chance,

Indirectly,

iOS 8 is allowing us to create some general improvements for the application, but not the ones that I am referring to. Even the so called "extensions" in iOS 8 are not really able to give us any additional leverage than we have already.

Our work towards making our iOS app device encompassing is currently dependent on apple's consent  (read as, we need their permission to get system level permission similar to what we have coming soon for Android)

I know I am pretty vague sometimes when I post here, but I really do not want to make any promises that we cannot keep. I do my best to provide information for you guys as soon as is possible. Feel free to keep asking questions, I just may not be always able to answer them directly

thanks

Any possibility of readdressing the Change in the icon. Since the change of moving away from browser is not happening yet, is it possible to have a non-shaming icon. The eye icon looks like big brother is watching and I am ashamed to show my iPad and iPhone to others. Can we have something more like a globe or other neutral image?

Thank you.

Any update on this? Was just thinking about it and thought I'd check. I use an app drawer app that lets me hide icons just to get around having the icon seen if I'm showing someone my phone.

I would love to just hide it altogether, but since operating systems don't seem to like that for obvious security reasons, the best solution seems to just make the icon inconspicuous. Just some thoughts.

If it's a branding concern, I'm curious - would there be much of a impact since the users that have the app are already paying customers and know the brand?
