iOS 8, which releases this fall, will allow extensions to be installed in Safari. I think it would be a great idea if Covenant Eyes could create an extension that would allow all web traffic to be tracked/filtered.

Hello funkydan,

No, it does not appear so.  However, we do think we have made some progress on our end in spite of that.  A new release of the beta was shipped out about a week and a half ago, and the feedback on that has been very promising.  We are working on some odds and ends type clean up and looking to greatly expand the beta to more users very soon.  This is the next step in the process leading toward a production release.  This is a huge step and one we've been blocked from taking for several months.  Fingers crossed that this is an indication that we're on the downhill run on this process.

On that point, as we're adding more beta testers, many that have requested to be added to the program may still not get an invite.  This is because Apple limits the number of users we can add to a beta app and the number of requests to be added are more than double that imposed limit.  That means that roughly half of the people that have asked will not get invited.  I'm truly sorry for that, but at the same time am encouraged by the interest.  We really do have amazing and committed members, and that is, in large part, why we do what we do here.   This work has been daunting for all of us involved here, and that sort of thing is really encouraging to the team.  I thank you all for your engagement and your passion. We really do look at you as partners in this battle.

As for iOS 11 itself...I'd be hesitant to upgrade just yet if you feel you absolutely need the protection.  I am personally holding off. We have not completed any detailed testing with iOS 11 yet, so we cannot yet say how this will impact our app.  That process is ongoing.  Stay tuned.

Thanks,

Ryan Sherrett
