Internet with CE is slower than normal

My internet connection is slower than others on my wifi network.  A LOT slower, and it seems to have gotten slower overnight and out of the blue (it didn't used to be slow).  I have uninstalled CE and found that internet speed doubles or triples without it. Reinstalled and it's slow again. Anything anyone can do to help?

Hi all,
Thanks for the posts! While filtering software often causes a slow down in Internet speed because the information has to be sent to the filtering server, approved, then sent back, adding an extra step in the way information is received by the computer, you shouldn't notice a significant slow down. If you are noticing a situation where the speed doubles without Covenant Eyes, it is more than likely because of a conflict with another software on the computer. The most common source of conflict for Covenant Eyes is antivirus software, but most of them are easily enough configured. If you have a firewall and antivirus, you'll want to add the following Covenant Eyes files, located in c:/program files/ce, to the exceptions list:
authserver.exe
covenanteyes.exe
covenanteyescommservice.exe
covenanteyeshelper.exe
covenanteyesproxy.exe.
If you need help with configuring your software, our free Customer Service line can be reached from 8AM-midnight EST Monday-Friday and 10AM-6PM EST on Saturdays at 877-479-1119.

I hope that helps!

Hi Thomas,
You might benefit from calling our Customer Service line. We are usually able to resolve speed issues when we have the devices "in front of us" and are able to see what all is on them.

Well, I checked my firewall and changed a setting but, that did not work for me.  The internet is still slower than normal.

Hi Thomas,
Sorry for the delay in response! If you ever need to speak with us, you can email support@covenanteyes.com and request that someone from the customer service team call you. That way you can receive the technical support you need and avoid having to pay for the call.

My son especially has noticed this for the last several days. Since CE is proxying the web requests, the speed of their servers directly impacts the time it takes for web requests.

Sounds like they need to upgrade their servers, or ask their hosting service to. This is a normal phenomemnon when new subscribers are added to a service like CE. Hopefully, they will respond to this quickly with additional bandwidth!
