It's hard to troubleshoot some issues like this without being able to speak directly, but I can provide some starting points.
First, try this series of actions:
Uninstall Covenant Eyes Manually Reboot the Phone Re-Install Covenant Eyes.
Everyone once in a rare while, the Android operating system stops listening to Covenant Eye's request for updates, and the above pattern seems to be the only way to reset it for now. I can't say for sure that is what you are experiencing, but as a side note it also is a great way to make sure Covenant Eyes is the most recent version on your fiance's device.
