FTP error: The server's certificate is not known. CovenantEyesProxy (94265)

There are a few FTP accounts I am having trouble with on my Windows 10 PC using the FTP program WinSCP. I am able to connect to one server perfectly fine, but with a couple FTP servers hosted on Microsoft Azure, I get this error every time I try to connect, whether via FTP or SFTP:

If I click "Yes," it acts like it connects, but there are no files in the list, and I can't navigate any of the server's hierarchy. Since the error above says the certificate is from CovenantEyesProxy, it's making me think WinSCP is actually connecting to CE on my local computer, rather than the FTP server or something?

I have been able to connect to this server in the past before installing 7.3.8 beta, but not now.

I am currently using CE 7.3.8 beta on Windows 10 (including the Creators update).

What happens if you say yes?

Hi Matt. I mentioned that in my question.
If I click "Yes," it acts like it connects, but there are no files in the list, and I can't navigate any of the server's hierarchy.
It continues on like it is connecting, and the connection screen goes away like it connected successfully, but there's nothing in the server list. I click ".." to go up a directory, but nothing happens. I just uninstalled CE entirely, and it works perfectly, so it was definitely CE screwing it up.

Whoops, sorry. I read your post and replied on my phone while I was eating. Not exactly the best scenario to help with tech support. Have you tried a different FTP program like Filezilla?

John,

Thanks for posting. Let me suggest three things:

1) just to be thorough, run a malware scanner (like ADW Cleaner),
2) make sure WinSCP, your browser, and your anti-virus program are up to date, and
3) email me at robert.b@covenanteyes.com so I can set you up with an internal beta.

You can also call our Customer Service Team at 877-479-1119. We are closed on July 4th, but will be taking calls until 11:45 PM (EST) on July 3rd.

Thanks again for posting,

Robert

Robert,

Thank you for the reply. After uninstalling CE 7.3.8 beta, the FTP server connected successfully. I then reinstalled CE 7.3.8 beta, and the FTP server continues to work. My computer did recently upgrade to the Windows 10 Creators update, and I didn't do anything with CE before or after. I remember reading something about updating Windows 10 with CE installed could cause problems, so maybe that was the cause for me.

John,

Thank you for the follow-up report. I'm glad to hear that uninstalling/reinstalling 7.3.8 worked for you!

Thanks again for the update!
