Forticlient Web Security Software - Possible conflict with CE

My MacBook Pro is a work computer that has FortiClient installed on it.
It is software that allows VPN access, but also has a Web Security component that filters the web for mature content.

When I install CE on it, I don't see any CE notifications or filter prompts, I only see the ones from FortiClient? Could these 2 filters be cause conflicts? I've noticed more crashes lately.

CE is installed and has filtering on.

Any advice would be great.

Good morning Albert,

Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having.  Our tech team started investigating this issue by trying to re-create it on our test machines.

The first thing they discovered is that Covenant Eyes does need to be uninstalled before Forticlient can be successfully installed.  So, with the right install sequence, we were able to install both software products.

For our next set of tests we had the user's Filter Sensitivity Level (FSL) set to Youth and we attempted to browse to sites with a higher Filter rating.  In those cases, we sawa the Covenant Eyes filter block page.  One question.  What FSL is your Covenant Eyes User ID set to?  If it's set to Mature Teen (MT), you'd have to browse to a site rated Mature (M) before you'd see the Covenant Eyes block page.  Could it be that Forticlient is blocking sites at a lower maturity level than Covenant Eyes? In essence, it's blocking sites that Covenant Eyes isn't configured to bock?

You mentioned crashes?  What exactly happens when you experience a crash?  Are there any sequence of events that result in the crash?

We're still testing different scenarios, including accessing a VPN.  I'll update this blog as we investigate.  If you can provide the details mentioned above, it would be much appreciated.

Shawn. I did some further testing and found that CE is working when visiting Mature sites. I did see the CE warnings. So I know it's not a conflict anymore. I also just incorporated OpenDNS at the Router level for extra protection! So, I think I'm good. The crashes are another issue altogether. Thanks for your response!
