Facebook & YouTube Searches

We're trying to understand options to investigate Facebook and Youtube searches and views. The report entries for these sites will take you to the https url but doesn't always let you see what was searched. I understand there are some privacy/banking concerns with tracking info behind https sites but I think FB and YouTube would be exceptions.

There's probably no way to actually replicate a user's search without being logged in as that user. Take for example the following scenario:
Alice knows Bob, so Alice looks at Bob's profile. Charlie does not know Bob, but receives Alice's accountability report. Charlie would not be able to view the URL that Alice looked at (Bob's profile) because Charlie does not have permission to view Bob's profile normally...

Hello Sue,

Thank you for your post! Steel is absolutely correct. Websites like Facebook and YouTube are protected by a username and password and the Covenant Eyes report cannot get you past that security. We can show you what the URL was, but when you click on it sometimes we cannot take directly to the page the user was seeing.

A lot of times, especially with Facebook, your own timeline or view of someone's profile will load because you are presently logged into your Facebook account and not the users. Same with YouTube.

However, on YouTube I have a few things that you can look for that might help you with understanding the searches on a report. When a YouTube search is done the URL that's recorded should have the words "results" and "search_query=" and after the equal sign it should have the word or phrase that was searched for. A lot of times any searches will appear as a "Viewed Page" on the report as well.

I hope I was able to clear some things up for you. If you have any further questions feel free to contact our Customer Service at 877.479.1119.

Best regards,
Annelise
