Blokada is a free, open source system-wide adblocker. It features custom DNS servers, filter lists, and low battery usage. It works by redirecting requests to items in the filter lists and then redirecting them so they do not load.
Why do I bring that up? Easy. It could be just what CE needs to fix the Android app. Set a default blacklist that the user cannot disable, redirect offenses of that list to a "this page has been blocked" screen and send a report, all while allowing users to add their own lists and DNS servers.

Upsides:
-filtering
-custom DNS
-optional adblocking
-tried-and-true stability and battery life
-Open-Source platform
Cons:
-Google doesn't care much for Blokada. It is not allowed on the Play Store. A solution, if this were to become an issue, would be to allow download of the app via the CE site and then it can be sideload. Perhaps the current app could remain in the Play Store for those who do not want to do that.

I use the VPN product on my iPhone and I really like it in that is a bit simpler to route all the traffic to Covenant Eyes to monitor rather than having to pick a feature here and there that Apple or Google allows them to use and then Google withdraws support and the App breaks.

I hope filtering comes to the VPN solution soon.

Also I think a more customizable filtering interface would be nice with Categories and Ad Blocking...like old non-existent Besecure.
