Does new Android app bug Verizon Message+ app?

I saw the CE Android app update on my phone last week (currently have version 4.0.0.19 installed). Since that time, I suddenly started noticing that MMS messages have stopped downloading onto my phone. I see an unread message, I go to the conversation, and I see a big "DOWNLOAD" button. I double checked my settings, and they haven't changed -- MMS messages are set to auto-download. So I go ahead and tap on the button, and it goes to "DOWNLOADING", but it never actually downloads.

The only "fix" I have found is to turn my phone off, then back on. When I open the Message+ app again, it immediately downloads the MMS messages, triggering notifications on my phone. But the next time I receive an MMS message, it does not download, until I restart my phone again.

So that's the question: is it possible the new CE app on Android could cause MMS messages to not download automatically or cause the downloads to fail silently?

Verizon Messages is an interesting critter with occasional outages and what not. Verizon recently did a major migration of all their Cloud Users. Verizon Messages is very nice because your messages are backed up to the cloud and sync between devices. Verizon is basically trying to run their own iMessage or WhatsApp! platform.

So all I can think of is to eliminate CE from to equation and to temporarily test on a phone without CE installed. Then test on a phone with CE installed.

That would show whether or not Covenant Eyes is causing the conflict.

I've experienced the same thing as John Wa. So unfortunately I will uninstall it and see how I go.
Thanks for the feedback.

John and John,

Personally, I haven't dealt with any cases of this but I will convey your reports to the Development team.

On some Verizon devices, there are two texting apps that come with the phone. Have either of you tried switching to the other messaging app that came with the phone? If so, did the problem persist?

Thanks,

Robert

I can confirm that after opening the stock Messages app and clicking to Download a message that wouldn't download with Verizon Messages, the message did successfully download. There must be a problem between Verizon Messages and the new CE VPN then. I'm switching to the Messages app then. Thanks for the reply, Robert.
