DevFC.exe crashed - The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

I am currently running CE 5.1.5.52 on Windows 7 SP1.

We run our MVC 5 projects using Azure DB and caching connections through Visual Studio 2013. When we run our projects with or without debugging, they open up and use Azure Compute Emulator and Azure Storage Emulator. This all works fine, but recently, the running project has been crashing randomly.

Out of nowhere a month or so ago, when browsing to a page within the project (http://127.0.0.1 or whatever), I will get a Windows error message that DevFC.exe has crashed. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens between once and a few times per day.

When looking in the Event Viewer, I see these two errors:

Application: DevFC.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

Can you please help me figure out how to stop this crash from happening? Thank you.

Hey John,

I'm sorry to hear about the crashing! We have a new version of CE that will run in 64bit natively. I would recommend uninstalling the current version that you have installed and installing the latest beta version from covenanteyes.com.
Once you're there, click on "My Account" at the top of the page and log in. Then click "Downloads"  on the left and then scroll down the page to the beta version and click "Download now".

I will also forward this message to the developers.

Let me know if this works for you!

Seth, I no longer see a beta version of CE to download, even after clicking "Show All Downloads" on the Downloads page. Will the new stable version 5.2.106 fix the problem I am having with DevFC.exe crashing? Or is there some other beta version I didn't see?

Hey John,
The beta version that I recommended previously is now the primary download. I would give that one a shot and letting me know how it turns out!

If I currently have a beta version (like 5.1.5.52) I installed a few months back, do I need to uninstall, then reinstall? Or can I safely just run the primary download?

Seth, sorry to re-ask, but do you have an answer to my question from last Friday? Thanks.

Sorry, for taking so long! I would recommend uninstalling, restarting, then trying the new version. If it gives you the same error, we have a beta version on the website that I would try.
