Covenant Eyes compatibility with Microsoft Lync 2013 client

Is anyone able to get Covenant Eyes to work with the Microsoft Lync 2013 client? I am unable to launch audio calls/meetings with both clients installed. I'd love to figure this out so I can keep Covenant Eyes on my work laptop.

Hey John

Just wanted to pop in here and let you know that this is a bug that we are currently aware of. (a couple of other people have brought it to our attention through other avenues) At this time I cannot give a reasonable estimate for when this bug will be fixed, but our Windows team is full of valiant individuals who are constantly working to make Covenant Eyes the best that it could possibly be.

I know it is not the answer you wanted, but hopefully it at least helps to know we are aware of what is going on.

My company recently introduced Microsoft Lync 2013 as part of office 365 for communicating with remote staff.  Lync crashes every call with covenant eyes installed, but works well with covenant eyes uninstalled.  Curious if there is any timeline on when the bug mentioned above is likely to be fixed?

No timeline as of yet.

We are aware that it is not compatible, we are unsure exactly as to why. The behavior that you are describing is consistent with what we have seen with our other members who have been having trouble with Lync. 

I will post as soon as I know something more concrete.

Hi all,
I've just been chatting with your tech support about the same thing (thanks Keith!), and was directed here.  My company has recently switched to Lync for online meetings (which we have frequently) as a replacement for MeetingPlace.  I also have compatibility issues between Lync and CE.

Here are my observations, in case it helps to find the solution:
In my case, I can join the audio portion of a meeting and that works just fine.  However, I can't see any shared video material (desktops, applications), nor can I share any myself.  I think that Lync hangs up while trying to add my username to the presentation.  Lync becomes unresponsive and if I attempt to break out or cancel, it usually causes Lync to crash.  With IT's assistance, we tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lync, but there was no change.  Only when I uninstalled CE could I get Lync to operate properly.

There is a set of four icons beside each participant's name in the online meeting.  The icon for video looks like a little movie camera.  Normally the icon is grey (user is not attached), dark blue (user is viewing the presentation) or light blue (user is the presenter).  In my case, the icon is grey and there is a small + over it.  If you hover the mouse over this icon, it says "Inviting to Presentation".  Probably this is a momentary state that is passed through so quickly that you don't notice, but in my case I get stuck in transition.

I did not have this problem with MeetingPlace, but I don't really know the differences between MeetingPlace & Lync, so can't offer much help there.

Hopefully you guys will be able to figure out a solution or workaround... I can't use CE at work for now.  Please advise via a bulletin if/when a solution is found.  Thanks very much!

Thanks for posting on this. One of our Windows developers and I were installing and uninstalling Covenant Eyes and Lync in various configurations together yesterday in attempt to ferret this out. I think we're getting closer, but we're not close enough yet to say with certainty how far out we are. We are actively working on it, and will keep you apprised of any progress here as soon as it's available. Thank you for keeping us informed.

Any further update on a fix for Lync compatibility?  I have had to participate in several online meetings, using another computer due to the incompatibility of CE to Lync.

Hey Jason,

Good news! As far as I know, the most recent beta version of Covenant Eyes is compatible with Lync. If you update you should be able to use it without any problems.
