Covenant Eyes VPN on iOS causing issues with SSL connections

Most apps seem to have an initial connection failure unless I open the CE app first.

Productivity apps, games, etc ... some of them simply say "something went wrong", while others specifically complain about an SSL error or insecure connection. Some don't load at all. I've captured all the screenshots I can, for docummentation's sake.

Is this just an issue with the VPN needing to be initialized by first opening the CE app? I'm 99.99999999999% sure this is the CE app or CE VPN (or other CE system-level restriction), as this is the first I've installed on this iOS device, and the device operated all of these apps without issue prior to CE installation. (Previous protection on this device was disabling safari and app store via parental controls.)

Hello Steel,

We did recently find an issue that some people were experiencing that cause the VPN to stop communicating properly and would interrupt their connection, and the symptoms of that problem are very similar to what you are describing here.  We do believe we have resolved that issue and that fix will be in our upcoming version. 

That version has been sent to Apple for App Store approval, so we are waiting on them to approve it and we can release.

Hello Steel,

Unfortunately, Apple does not give us any real ETA on their approval process.  Usually, however, it doesn't even take this long, so I'm hopeful this will be very soon.
