Covenant Eyes not working properly on Chrome

We're using Covenant Eyes on a MacBook pro, Google Chrome Version 74 (newest update). There are a number of problems we've noticed (replicated on several different MacBook pros).

1. A user on our account is set to Everybody and has, for example, youtube, pinterest, and Facebook explicitly on the Do Not Allow list. However, although those sites are correctly blocked on Safari, they are allowed, without delay, on Chrome. Consistently. We've noticed this behavior over several week period.

2. When we sign out of Covenant Eyes, it's still possible to use the Internet on Chrome. Again, on Safari the Internet doesn't work if we're signed out of Covenant Eyes, but in Chrome we can use the Internet, and the sites are not filtered, nor tracked.

It's a bit concerning to us that a service we're paying for can be so easily bypassed.

Perry,

I can understand your concern. Let me make a three-fold suggestion:

  1. Clear the cache/history of Chrome.
  2. Uninstall Covenant Eyes®.
  3. Install the latest version (3.0.3 was released in February 2019). It's available at https://covenanteyes.com/myaccount/clients/
If there continues to be a problem, I'd encourage you to contact our Customer Support team via chat, or at 877-479-1119. They'll talk with you about Parental Controls on the Mac and check for other filters. Additionally, the rep will be able to take a closer look at the Covenant Eyes filter settings of the user in question. There are times when blocking a site, like Facebook, requires additional URLs on the block list. And the rep will be able to help you out with that.

Thanks for reaching out. We look forward to assisting you,

Robert
