covenant eyes is blocking itself

How does it make any sense that when I enter a search for the Covenant Eyes website, Covenant Eyes blocks its own site? It is also blocking perfectly innocent things like an account on instagram that has nothing but pictures of this woman's two little children. And when the instagram blocking occurs, I am not given the option to override the block.

Hi LBW,
Thanks for the post! Covenant Eyes is programmed to not block itself, so if you're experiencing that, we'd need to do a little digging to figure out what is happening. If you are on a Windows computer, I would recommend calling our Customer Service support staff at 877-479-1119 (989-720-8000 if you're outside the US) between the hours of 8am and midnight EST Monday-Friday and 10am-6pm on Saturdays and we'd be more than happy to troubleshoot with you! If you are on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) check your restriction settings and make sure you haven't chosen to "limit adult content". We do talk about pornography a lot on our page, so it tends to rate highly. If you're on a Mac computer, my best guess would be that there are Parental Controls running and Covenant Eyes needs to be made an allowed application.

As to the Instagram situation, unfortunately, because of the content that is available on Instagram, it has a hard rating of MT. That means that no page on Instagram will score below that MT rating, so if your filter is set below that, it will block. If you aren't getting the page that allows you to override it, it's because the page that was blocked won't redirect to our actual block page, which is how you get the override option. Regrettably, we can't remedy how another webpage does or doesn't redirect, but you should be able to check your browsing activity through the Covenant Eyes software through the dashboard. Depending on your device, you may see the option "activity on this computer", "URL logs", or some other similar language. This will give you the URLs from Instagram that are being blocked and you can add them to the allow list from the Covenant Eyes website. Again, if you need any help with that, please give us a call!

I hope that helps!
