Covenant Eyes and Windows 10 aren't getting along here.

So I have decided to switch to using bing because of a personal distrust of google. I tried to sign into bing in any browser and it just returns me to the home page and doesn't sign me in. Also, cortana is perpetually offline now, though I have a firm connection to the internet. Does CE just not work on windows 10 anymore? This is quite frustrating, especially for those who wish to use edge (which supports plugins now).
Note: I know it is the fault of CE because a clean boot fixed this problem and then teh problem came back the moment I started up CE.

Hi Samuel,
We do not have compatibility issues with Windows 10 if you're using the most recent version of our software. If you're running version 7.2.11 of Covenant Eyes, I'd call into our customer service line at 877-479-1119 between the hours of 8AM and midnight EST Monday-Friday or 10AM-6PM EST on Saturdays to see what other software on your computer we may be having issues.

As i recall, there are other users who have compatibility issues with the filtering software and windows 10 (marking bing and windowssearch as HM)

Hi Samuel,
Prior to Covenant Eyes version 7.2.20 on any Windows platform with windowssearch capabilities (8 and above) ,we flagged windowssearch as HM with a note to the Accountability Partner that we did so because of visibility issues, that is, those searches weren't trackable by us. The newest version of Covenant Eyes, 7.2.20, has improved visibility into those searches, so if you upgrade to that version, those searches will stop being flagged as HM, unless the content you're viewing is actually HM. If you continue with 7.2.11 or below, they will flag regardless of content.

I'm sure the new update has fixed the problem, but now the new update will not install. I hit check for upgrades and then the admin comes and puts in the password. It checks and claims I'm up to date with 7.2.11 when 7.2.20 is definitely already out. Why will it not update? I've had this issue before.

Hi Samuel,
The short answer to your question is that Covenant Eyes isn't pushing updates from 7.2.11 at this point in time. The "Check for Upgrades" feature will only turn back an update if you're using a version that is approved for auto upgrade by our developers. We do auto upgrades sparingly because Windows machines tend to vary so much individually and we don't want to cause any undue stress on our members by having an auto update fail due to a software interaction, and since 7.2.20 was just recently released and doesn't have any extreme difference or usability fix from 7.2.11, an update isn't necessary for most of our users.

I hope that helps!

I agree with Samuel. The most recent version of CE completely disables cortana. I know because, like him, i completely reset my PC. and after installing CE, cortana stopped working.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the post! I tested Cortona on one of our Windows machines running 7.2.20 and didn't experience an issue with it. When you put 7.2.20 on, was it over top a previous version or a fresh install after the previous version had been uninstalled?

@Samuel this is kind of irrelevant but I've never had issues with anything working so I'm hopeful your issue will get resolved!

I installed on top of a previous version, and notably have the filtering service active.

Hi Samuel,

One of our developers was able to recreate the issues when running as a filter user. This may explain why some people haven't had the issue. The developer is currently investigating the issue. I'll let you know as soon we have an update.

Thanks!

I am a filter user, so this makes sense. I can confirm CE is the issue because I freshly installed CE (with consent of my accountability partner of course) and cortana worked after it was uninstalled. It's installed back now and cortana is disabled completely.

Did you do a clean install or did you just install over the previous version?

Okay, progress has been made. Cortana now shows the interests (tap to add) button and then tells me she cannot connect, no matter what. The beta made progress, but didn't fix it for me. Sorry!

Hi Samuel,
Did you install 7.2.22 over the previous version or do a fresh install after uninstalling the previous version? I know it seems knit-picky, but sometimes a fresh install makes the difference.

I just installed over the previous version. Frankly, uninstalling is a real hassle.

For me, its just extremely inconvenient to uninstall. I'm not sure what's with your issue, maybe you should ask about it in a dedicated thread?

My husband of 3 years downloaded CE 2 months ago to try and win my trust after deceiving me for all the time I've known him. After all his false accusations against myself, I choose to do the unthinkable and hid myself with his phone..

Hi NoMoreFailure,
Thanks for the post! First, I want to assure you that the employees at Covenant Eyes are not only here for our members and their partners, but that we are just as invested in their recovery as we would be for any of our family members or friends. We believe in our mission and strive for a world where Integrity online isn't a chore, but a natural occurrence.  That being said, based on the information that you posted, it looks as though you might be receiving reports with no activity because the software was uninstalled from the device(s). This would mean that your husband's username is currently allowed to uninstall the software, but that can be changed by going to covenanteyes.com, signing in under "My Account" (you must sign in with the administrator username and password), then hit "Manage Users" on the left. This should take you to a screen where all the usernames on the account are listed. Find the gear icon next to his username to navigate to his profile page. In the upper right hand corner, there will be a box labeled "Uninstall Permission" with a check box featured inside. If the box is checked, he will be able to uninstall Covenant Eyes, so make sure it is unchecked. This will prevent him from uninstalling the software in the future. Please, please, please feel free to call us at 877-479-1119 Monday-Friday between the hours of 8AM and midnight EST or 10AM-6PM on Saturdays if you have any questions or concerns! Our customer service team is willing and very able to help, and I guarantee that whatever trials you face on your husband's road to recovery, you can find someone here that is in the same boat or has been previously.  We also have a wonderful blog at http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/ where we have collected information, tools, and relevant, inspirational stories about Internet Integrity. If you're particularly interested in how other married couples have beat online temptation and how they've survived together post pornography, you can find information here http://www.covenanteyes.com/category/rebuild-your-marriage/. We also have a wonderful series of free ebooks covering a vast array of topics regarding Internet Integrity. You may find "Porn and Your Husband" (http://www.covenanteyes.com/marriage-advice-my-husband-watches-porn/) and "Hope After Porn" (http://www.covenanteyes.com/hope-after-porn-how-their-marriages-were-saved/) particularly helpful, but I encourage you to browse all the topics at http://www.covenanteyes.com/e-books/.

Well, now every Microsoft-related service has no connection to the internet. Is a fresh install absolutely necessary to fix this?

Okay, I did a clean install. My Microsoft services work again, but Cortana is still very much broken. I'll assume that it's a DNs issue and give up. Thank you for all you have done, support!

Update: I reinstalled my Operating system from scratch and then installed the CE beta, and everything works now. Thank you! The problem was partly due to a damaged OS.
