Does this include chromebooks?  I know the ChromeOS is their own build of Android, but I also understand that it is different enough that it may not be supported yet.

Also, are there changes on the Amazon Kindle Fire?  We have both devices and I'm willing to test it on both if they both can/should be tested by this beta test.

Currently this does not support Chromebooks, Kindle Fire is possible but I do not know when that will make it into this upcoming release.

Google has expressed interest in bringing Android apps to the Chromebook, but that has not been made widely available yet. Currently there are only 4 apps that actually have been ported, as sort of an experiment

Are we supposed to get an email confirming our registration or just if we've been selected? It's be nice to know our registration was submitted successfully.

If you submitted your registration, you will receive an email within the next couple of days. Unfortunately I have to manually send all of the emails to participants at this point, so I am going to send them out in batches.

Good point about confirmation though, this is a bit of an experiment and I will take that under advisement as we continue

I'd be happy to test this.  I worked in software development (albeit for tax software) for 7 years and I'm current a systems analyst for a large hospital in Atlanta.  I'm quite technical and just spent part of last weekend installing Windows 10 into a virtual machine.  I applied via the survey monkey link a day or two ago.  Let me know!

John, I've applied and am interested. Any idea if CE3 will improve battery usage? Thanks for this opportunity.

Zack,

No promises about battery usage, (tho we are always working on optimizing the app) However of the improvements in testing have shown a substantial decrease in battery drain. It remains to be seen how it all works once it is all hooked up (which is why we have not handed it out to people for testing quite yet) but there is a possibility it will improve battery life

sorry for being so vague, you will know more when i do

Was the 2.0.2.x version not able to be rolled out?

The 2.0.2x version actually took longer to debug and finalize than anticipated, with the happy side effect of the 3.0 version catching up in the meantime

So I applied a long time ago, yet haven't heard anything or received any emails.  It was my understanding that we'd get some response within a few days or a week.  What is going on? "f you submitted your registration, you will receive an email within the next couple of days. "

Hey Guys,

We are looking to release a very limited early Alpha of the 3.0 build this coming Monday, would any of you be interested in participating? The full Beta release will follow once we are certain that the build is closer to being completed, but a few brave individuals would be helpful for testing early next week

I am also getting the VPN prompt, and my Wi-Fi calling is not working since installing CE3 beta. Could that be related to the new CE3 stuff?

I also am having VPN issues as well (samsung galaxy s 4 lollipop). I tried to send a pic in a text message and it never would send, so I turned off the VPN and it did send. I don't know if they are related, but that is the fix I have for jow for sending pictures.

I wish I could...I don't apparently have access rights to edit my post.  Do you have the ability to delete it or edit it?  I've tried for probably 5 minutes to find a way to do it..yeah I don't want the spam bots to get happy when they find my email :)  I knew it was a generally bad practice to post an email address in a form..but since it was the only thing I knew would work.

So I have the app installed, did it relatively quickly and easily.  Here's what I've found so far:
1) The notification that VPN is activated by covenant Eyes.  Sometimes if I tap on this it shows the standard android VPN connection screen showing the duration and giving options to cancel or disconnect, but other times this is hidden.  It would be nice if this was consistent and perhaps the pop up screen was always hidden.
2) I did find the VPN disconnected sometime overnight.  This is likely due to the app I have which shuts down all data connections between 10am and 6am.  It was easy to reconnect in the morning.
3) When I am using Chrome (default browser) I get these popups showing the web address I am browsing and asking me to double click to edit...is this related to the accessibility service?  Is there any way to not have these pop up?  They don't seem to do anything, but are annoying.
4) Should I be locking the play store and various apps like in the previous version of Covenant eyes or is the goal here to just use any and every app to see what it properly logs?

One more question - should I uninstall CE from my tablet before installing the new version (like I did on my phone) or should I try to just run the APK without uninstalling the old version first?

Hey Matt,

Great feedback so far.

VPN stability is something we are working on, there are some oddities in the activation portion. Thanks for reporting what is going on.

VPN stability is in the works, but I am glad it was easy to reconnect

Sounds like you are getting toast notifications, we use those internally to help track what is being recorded but I thought they were turned off for that build...

Feel free to use any/all apps and see what activity you get

I would recommend uninstalling first at this point, just to be safe

I noticed on the detail browsing reports I am getting the same messages about "double tap to edit" and "editing" that I see on my phone when browsing the web.

Here are examples.
