Computer way too slow

This is the 3rd  time this has happened. Our Macbook is ridiculously slow. Is this common for computers with Covenant Eyes? It seems like we have to restore the computer often.  We are also unable to stream movies on the Mac. There is a delay between the video and sound. It took me 20 minutes to view a recipe yesterday because every time I would try to scroll down, the little circle that says its loading would go on. I would press it again and when the computer finally caught up, it scrolled to the very end of the recipe. I was only able to see the top of the page and then the bottom.  Extremely frustrating! Please help!

Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the post! I'm sorry you're having such a frustrating time with your Mac.  From what I'm reading, you're having some issues that sound like they could be related to Covenant Eyes (filtering software can cause delay in pages loading, although when it's drastically slowed down, it usually indicates a conflict of some sort, perhaps with an Antivirus software or other filtering softwares) and some things that are highly unlikely to be caused by Covenant Eyes (delay between sound and video). To accurately get a picture of what's going on, I'd need some clarifying information:

Have you tried uninstalling Covenant Eyes at all? If so, did all of these issues resolve?
When you say you're unable to stream movies, what exactly happens? Does it just fail to load because it takes too long or do you get a specific error message?
Are you running any other kind of filtering software or antivirus software (such as Sophos) that may be conflicting with our software?
Is your Operating System too old or too new for the version of Covenant Eyes you're running? If your OSX is below 10.6.8, you'd want Covenant Eyes version 1.4.6 or previous; if you're running Yosemite (10.10), you have to be running Covenant Eyes version 2.6.0 or later, and if you have El Capitan(10.11), you must be running at least version 2.8.4. You can check your OSX by clicking on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the Mac and choosing "About this Mac" and you can check the version number of Covenant Eyes by clicking on the eye icon in the top bar of the Mac and choosing "About". 
When you see the circle indicating that the computer is loading, is it the circle for your browser or the Mac beach ball icon?
Does rebooting the machine have any affect on the issue?
