CE Chicken and Egg problem with Password Resets

I hope that you guys see the absurdity of only allowing an account administrator to send a link to the user that forgot his password?  Since he forgot his CE password, guess what?  He can't get to email in order to change his password!!!

This is a simple fix, akin to every other administrator access to accounts. Let the Administrator SET their password!!!

Hi Gerry,
Any user that has forgotten their Covenant Eyes password can reset it without knowing their current password in one of two ways. First, they can call us at 877-479-1119 Monday-Friday 8AM-12AM EST or 10AM-6PM on Saturdays and either retrieve it or reset it. If a user doesn't want to call in, they can use this link https://covenanteyes.com/myaccount/signin/request-password to reset their password. If the issue is that the administrator used their own email when signing up the users instead of the user's email, that can be changed in the "My Profile" section of My Account, after the user can get in. In that instance, I would suggest calling us to retrieve or change the password.

I hope that helps!

Interesting. So, CE must pass it's own website web requests through!  I tested this and indeed this seems to be the case.  Makes sense since you are acting as proxy.

So, yes, this link will work. One thing to note, though. In my testing, I logged my CE out, and proceeded to try and type in the web address to covenanteyes.com. The CE app kept popping up frequently trying to get me to log in, and it was TOUGH to enter the URL.

Maybe the inclusion of a Short-cut/Alias to this link in the OS Menu?  That would help!

Hi Gerry,
An easier password retrieval process has definitely been on the minds of the developers at Covenant Eyes. We want everything to be as user friendly as possible, and recognize how frustrating it is to try and navigate to covenanteyes.com on a device with Covenant Eyes installed when you don't know the password information.  That being said, the hindrance in this, and in everything else we do for convenience sake, is making sure we don't open any back doors around Covenant Eyes in the process.  It's a very delicate balance, and we don't want to open up the possibility of browsing without accountability. We appreciate the input though-we don't know what our members are looking for if they don't tell us!

Well!!  We're back to the Chicken and Egg scenario with YOUR NEW Apple update!!  Now, when he goes to his email, where his reset email resides, clicking on the "click here" takes him DIRECTLY to a CE login screen, and since he can't login .............

I can't bring the CE browser up now to enter the URL!!  All I get is this "pretty" CE login screen. You guys REALLY need to re-think this!

Update: I had to go into restrictions and enable Safari. Then, I could click on the link which opened in Safari now, and not CE, and we were able to reset his password. Of course, I had to go BACK into restrictions and turn safari off again.

I really should have been able to do this with the CE Browser.
