CE Causing Steam to crash with downloads

I have steam and CE version 8.0.79 installed (both fresh installs) with windows 7 64-bit OS. I'm not sure when the problem started since I haven't used steam in a while, but what is happening is that steam is crashing as soon as I attempt to start a download. It then crashes on startup with the only resolution being a fresh installation. After a fresh installation, it works fine until you try to install anything and the crash problem resolves. I've tried dozens of different solutions for steam crashes and antivirus whitelisting without results. Finally, I traced the problem to covenant eyes because as soon as I uninstalled it, steam resumed working just fine. I reinstalled covenant eyes and steam continued to work (I can play all my games just fine)...until I tried to download an update and boom, the crash problem resumed.

I really don't want to have to generate an uninstall code every time that I need to download anything via steam. Any thoughts on solutions? Several of my friends that I play with have CE and it doesn't seem to interfere with their steam so maybe it is some combination of CE and something about my system but I'm not sure.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your post and I apologize for the difficulties you've been experiencing with Covenant Eyes and Steam.

One thing that you can try is the Windows beta version (8.0.85) that is available on our website. This version has over a dozen of programs that we have whitelisted and could help improve the crashing you are seeing when trying to run an update with Steam.

If the beta does not resolve the issue you are experiencing please contact our Customer Service and we would more than happy to assist you in resolving the issue. We can be reached at 877.479.1119 and are available Monday-Friday 8am-11:45pm EST and Saturday 10am-5:45pm EST.

Best regards,
