Great question! Simply switching off the VPN within the Settings should result in the VPN automatically re-enabling itself. However, the VPN is part of our new enhanced reporting and aides Covenant Eyes in monitoring activity happening OUTSIDE of the Covenant Eyes browser app. If you're continuing to use the Covenant Eyes app as your main browser you will still be monitored whether the VPN is enabled or disabled, but in order to get our enhanced reporting you will want to keep the VPN enabled.
