Hi Pam,

Thank you for asking; it shows your commitment to being wise online! Unfortunately, at this time, there is not a way to do that. Youtube makes it possible for a person to change that setting, but another person could come along and change it back. I would not call that being locked in.

We have been able to achieve such a lock on iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod), but we have not done that on Android devices. It is being worked on, but there is no expected delivery date at this time. If/when it becomes a real-world feature, we'll be sure to get the word out!

Thanks again for asking,

Robert

Thank you so much for your prompt response as I've been searching for an answer for many months. You say that it is possible to lock the YouTube restricted mode on an iPhone? That's interesting because I have several friends with iPhones who have not been able to accomplish that. Is there a particular iPhone model that offers this feature?

Pam,

Good follow-up question; I wasn't as precise as I should've been. We are able to lock YouTube into Restricted mode when the CE app is installed. Any version of Covenant Eyes for iOS that starts with "4" will enforce YouTube's Restricted mode in Safari, in the YouTube app, and in the CE browser. In a case where CE is not installed, an iPhone person would be in the same situation as the Android person.
