Hello Mark,

Thank you for inquiring about Covenant Eyes for Blackberry. With the quickly growing mobile market, we do see the importance of accountability on mobile devices like Android and Blackberry. We have been researching Blackberry for some time and have internally tested some code for this platform. However, mobile technology changes rapidly and the code we have developed no longer meets the standards that we set out to achieve. Our plan for Blackberry development is being re-evaluated but we do hope to develop a high quality version of Covenant Eyes for this platform in the future.

Thank you again for inquiring!

Best regards,

Do you have any suggestions for Blackberry users until then?

I would suggest a Blackberry App called Advanced Device Locks. This allows any app on a blackberry to be password protected. I still need email access on my phone, but definitely DON'T need constant internet access in my pocket. This allows me to keep access to my email, while my wife has the password for the browser, etc, in case I do need to use it for some reason. It's not CE, but it's one of the only other effective options I know for blackberry users.

Hello tylerb,

I am not familiar with any Blackberry apps that will provide accountability, like Covenant Eyes. However, there appears to be a few parental control apps available. I did perform a Google search for "Blackberry parental controls", click here to view my results.

I hope that is helpful.

Best regards,

The mobile focus for our devs at the moment is Android. There has been discussion of Blackberry and some research, but I've heard of no development/release timeline or prioritization on it at this time.

The PlayBook is actually working/accepting Android applications if it's re-bundled, not too sure what that means but I'm sure a developer would know. With the PlayBook coming out tomorrow it's important that there is an app soon.

So, it would be great to have this app. I cannot believe that there is absolutely nothing to offer for blackberry. Can Covenant Eyes at least offer a stripped down version? Something. Please.

Alaina,

The biggest issue is that the PlayBook has publicly announced that they are accepting Android apps. With over 50,000 PlayBooks sold on Tuesday alone, which is HALF of what the Xoom has sold since Feb, really seems like you're missing the boat on this. With two PlayBooks in our home after two days of it being released it is a bit unnerving to think that there isn't any intention to support BlackBerry users.

While our current focus is Android, we do understand your concerns and I have made sure to pass along your and other comments on this thread to our development team for consideration.

The first release that we will be doing for Android is a plug-in for Firefox's mobile browser app. Since this plug-in will be reliant on Firefox 4 Mobile as its platform and not on the Android, if the browser becomes available for Playbook it should work.

As to the app portion of Android development, due to the nature of our product and the way that Playbook is to run Android apps there is no guarantee that the app, when it becomes available, will work as intended on a Playbook.

Should further information become available it will be posted on here, but if you would like us to contact you directly about any future development related to Blackberry devices, please email us at support@covenanteyes.com with your contact information and we’ll get you on our Blackberry contact list.

With Android apps now accessible on devices running BB10 OS, I thought the CE app might work....

I have heard that some BB features can be disabled to prevent internet access of any kind. Is that true? That sounds like somebody trying to weasel out of restrictions to me.

All: have you tried http://www.software4parents.com/ , or http://www.spectorsoft.com/ ? Both seem to advertise software available for Blackberry. No, it's not my favorite program Covenant Eyes, but if it does the job, perhaps its an option.

Is there any luck and/or news on CE for BB? I just received a playbook for Christmas and already have a CE account. This is an amazing product and service that I would like to continue using.

Thank you.

BlackBerry 10 is a really easy platform to develop for, in what I have read. It would be great to see an app for BlackBerry 10. You could even port the Android app you have already developed.

Thanks
