Bitdefender Antivirus

Hello!  Bitdefender 2018 antivirus is saying that two CE system files, cewd64f.sys, and cewd64r.sys, are infected, when I run a full system scan.  Specifically, the scan log says they are "Rootkit - Hidden items".  I am using CE Windows Beta 7.2.53 and Windows 10.  I do NOT have any Bitdefender firewall running.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled CE, but still get the message that the files are infected.  I'm assuming it may be an error, so how can I be sure, and then tell Bitdefender to ignore the files?

Let me know if I need to provide any more information.

Thanks!

UPDATE: The two files are located in C\Windows\System32\drivers\ , and I have tried to add them as exceptions in Bitdefender, but the program will not let me add them.

Erik,

Thanks for reaching out. We haven't seen an uptick in calls about Bitdefender and Covenant Eyes. We would seen an uptick in calls, if there was a widespread problem. Since we haven't seen that, let me recommend something for your specific scenario.
  • Uninstall Covenant Eyes.
  • Turn off Bitdefender.
  • Install and run a different anti-virus scanner, like Malwarebytes.
  • Optional - install and run CCleaner.
  • Install the latest version of Covenant Eyes.
  • Turn Bitdefender back on and make sure it's up to date.
  • Make sure that Covenant Eyes is excluded from Bitdefender's various scans.
For additional help with any of these steps, or to allow a Customer Service agent to perform them for you, please call us at 877-479-1119. During the week our team takes calls until 11:45 pm (EST).

Robert,

Thank you for your update with possible solutions.  It seems that Bitdefender fixed the problem, since I have not had time to go through your list yet and the full system scan is no longer reporting those files from CE as infected!

I will keep an eye on it and contact you if the problem returns.

Thanks!
Erik
