bit.ly links not working

Currently, link shortened using bit.ly aren't working on my Mac - either in Safari or Firefox. When I click on a bit.ly link all I see is a blank page. Other URL shortening services work.

I don't know if it's a CE issue, but thought people here might have some idea...

Sounds like a bit.ly issue, but anything is possible. Here are some basic things you can do:
  • Make sure you have the latest version of CE (7.2.48 is the current default download).
  • Run a malware scanner.
  • Try the link again.
  • If the bit.ly link still does not work, then you could temporarily remove CE and try again.
  • If the bit.ly link works when CE is removed, then please call us at 877-479-1119. We'd love to take a closer look at what's going on.

One more diagnostic suggestion -- 
Try adding a plus sign "+" to the end of the link, and see if it takes you to the information page. 
For example, http://bit.ly/1sNZMwL+ (should show that it redirects to Wikipedia).

Eric - that link doesn't resolve on my system. Just goes to a white page.

Robert - is the version number you quoted for Windows? The version on my Mac is 2.8.10.

Oh boy! Sorry about that. The latest version of Covenant Eyes for Mac is 2.8.10.

As far as a malware scanner, I'll suggest Malwarebytes. They have a very good reputation and a free version. If the scan finds and eliminates something, reboot and try the bit.ly link again.

Are you using the CE Filtering service? If so, disengage it and see what happens.

If those two things don't make a difference, then I'd try removing CE and seeing what happens with the bit.ly link.
