Hello Lucas,

Thanks for your post and I apologize for the surplus of responses you may have received via email.
In order to ensure a user's protection and accountability on Android devices are app must constantly run in the background. This also means that when apps like Twitter, Chrome, Facebook etc are used Covenant Eyes runs too to monitor the activity, which means the more apps you use for longer period of times will also cause the amount of battery that Covenant Eyes uses to go up. After speaking with our developers, 11% is not alarmingly high considering all of the work we do in the background. We do apologize if the battery usage is an inconvenience at all.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our Customer Service at 877.479.1119.

Best regards,
Annelise

11% is significant considering prior to upgrading to Android O I never saw it higher than 3 or 4% and often 1%. Perhaps it is something to do with new code introduced in the new operating software that is causing the spike.

There is definitely an issue. Today CE has used 42% of my battery. Please help and don't dismiss as normal.

Lucas,

What kind of phone are you using? Is it rooted? Have you uninstalled and reinstalled CE?

As you can imagine, any new OS requires us to update and tweak our app. Our Developers have already been tweaking our app for improved compatibility with Oreo; they are nearly done preparing a beta release. If you already signed up to be a beta tester, you'll be one of the first people to try it out. If you haven't signed up, please email support@covenanteyes.com.

I hope you didn't miss what Annelise stated above - the CE app runs whenever another app runs. We can't change that. And that means that CE will always be one of the highest battery usage apps.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here,

Robert

Robert, thanks for the suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling CE. That seems to have fixed the problem. I am not rooted on a Pixel XL.
