App locking not working on Samsung Galaxy S8+

I have found that app locking is not fully functional on my Samsung Galaxy S8+. I can have my partner put in the code, block the app, and it still launches. Could you look into this? Also, all Reddit and "Chan" image board browsers should be blocked as unsupported browsers because they allow access to adult content.

I have discovered this is due to accessibility being turned off, but CE continues to run as normal. On my tablet, this prompts the accessibility menu to come up until you activate it for CE, but this does not happen on the Samsung Galaxy S8+. I am currently running the beta version. This vulnerability should be addressed asap.

Matt,

Thanks for posting here! Because the Android environment is diverse, we appreciate hearing what our Android members are running into.

Before I pass along your report to our Development team, let me ask some questions:

1 -  What Android version is the Galaxy S8 running, and what version of CE is on the device?
2 -  Are you saying that AppLock started working fully on the Galaxy S8 when Accessibility was turned on for CE?
3 -  If so, once Accessibility was turned on, did the Reddit & Chan browsers get flagged as unsupported browsers?
4 -  What Android version is the tablet running, and what version of CE?

Thanks again for posting, we appreciate your participation!

Hi Robert,
I'll do my best to answer your questions in the order received.

1) The Galaxy S8 is running Android 7.0 (Nougat), the CE version on the Galaxy S8 is 3.0.4.0 (Beta).
2) That is correct. AppLock successfully worked when Accessibility was turned on for CE on the Samsung Galaxy S8+. When Accessibility isn't on, the user receives no alerts, and App Locking does not prevent any apps from running. I am not prompted to turn on accessibility like I am on the tablet.
3) No, even when App Locking is working correctly, these apps are not blocked by default. This is true on both my tablet and phone. They can be blocked manually, but should be blocked by default for all users. I imagine these apps have not been added to the Covenant Eyes blacklist as unsupported browsers, but they need to be.
4) The tablet is running 5.0.1 (Lollipop) also with CE version 3.0.4.0 (Beta).

Matt,

Thank you for answering my questions! When I reached out to a member of the Development Team, I learned that better use of Accessibility, in Nougat, is being addressed in another beta. Since you've already signed up to be a Beta Tester, you'll be one of the first people to receive the next beta.

I will submit a Feature Request for adding Reddit and Chan to a blacklist. That kind of suggestion is processed by a different team who will look into it and think it through.

I know I mentioned it before but I'll reiterate it here - we appreciate your feedback!

Robert
