App disappeared iOS 5s and 7

After an update the Covenant Eyes application disappears from both my sons 5s and 7 iPhones. The screen time setting are such that apps are not allowed to be deleted and yet somehow after updating the app deletes itself.

When that happens YouTube restricted mode, history, and google safe search get turned off and all monitoring through Covenant Eyes is gone.

Why does the application go from operating just fine to disappearing? I have similar settings in my phone and never have a problem. What could be causing this?

Brock,

The thing that comes to mind is a change in the age-level for allowed apps. If the age-level is anything less than 17+, then the Covenant Eyes® app will disappear. And that would lead to the other changes you mentioned.

I have heard of a few cases of updating from any iOS pre-12 to iOS 12 resulting in that kind of reset. I have heard of only one case where an update from 12.1 to 12.2 caused such a reset.

Beyond that, I'm not sure. I recently updated an iPhone® 6 from iOS 11.4 .1 to iOS 12.2 and there were no hiccups, no changes to the restrictions.

Thanks for being pro-active by looking out for your sons! Keep up the good work! If we can be of additional assistance, please feel free to call us at 877.479.1119.
