Android beta version available. Will you help us test it?

Hey all,

We've had quite a few requests for a beta testing program for our Android app. Given the simplicity of Google Play's new beta program, we'd be fools not to make use of it. Will you help us test our latest app? This version should ease some install woes and stop an "Accessibility" popup that some are experiencing. If you're game, we'd certainly appreciate a willingness to put it through its paces and report back to us here--especially if you're among those experiencing the "Accessibility" popup.

The beta is available here

Thanks!

Any way I can contribute ideas/code? I'm working on something myself that once polished would be a useful addition.

v 3.6 Been getting the 'CE requires Accessibility' just over the last week when I turn on. My phone is very slow coming on. But today it's happening every several minutes while doing other items. Annoying interrpution.  I'll try the Beta.

The current stable / beta releases kill my battery and also seem to make my phone very sluggish. Running a stock HTC One M9 with marshmallow.

The recent updates to the era app have disabled Bing search from app, I use Bing all the time and replaced the search bar with the bing search bar but now I get an unsupported nag when I use it. Is there any possibility that Bing searches will be tracked/supported in the future? Or are we stuck with nothing but Chrome browser integration forever?

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the post! We don't typically hinder a phone's ability to get online at hot spots. If the wifi you're trying to get connected to has a terms and conditions page and it's not coming right up in the wifi settings, you might have to try navigating to an http site (ford.com, for example) to get it through so that you can authenticate yourself. If that doesn't work, you may have to uninstall to get connected and reinstall afterward. Unfortunately, with beta applications, there isn't always a fix beyond that.

Let me know what happens!

Samantha, I was able to try going to a different site (in my case, gm.com) and the log in page popped up. I think it was Android Chrome protecting the load of google.com. Once I forced it to try something else, the login page popped up. Thank you for your help.

Have the opposite problem, can toggle CE on/off in accessibility on my android phone without CE locking, aka it's useless. . .

Ryan,
Thanks for posting; we're sorry to hear about your frustration.
We have seen that specific problem on a few Samsung devices using Android 7. Our developers are working on a fix for that particular issue. Is your phone a Samsung using that version of Android? If so, you should see a fix for this when the update rolls out. If you sign up to be a beta tester, that update will be automatically available to you when it's pushed out.
You can also try uninstalling/reinstalling CE, in some cases that takes care of it.
Thanks again for posting,
Robert

@John et al.,
Is this version still in beta? I get the announcement on android devices when viewing the forum, and on the main Android sub-forum. Not that it's a bad thing to have this "general-hey-I-found-a-problem" thread, but it also may be useful to close this thread and remove those notifications, if they're deprecated.

Steel,

Thanks for asking. As of today, 7/12/17, version 3.0.3.38 is the default download of CE for Android. Version 3.0.4.0 is the current beta.

Thanks also for the suggestion about closing some old threads. Although we've talked about it, we haven't yet reached a decision on that idea.

Regards,

Robert
